Congratulations to our apprentices who completed their Exothermic Welding Training. A special thank you to…
Congratulations Kayla Cordaro
We are proud to announce the IBEW 2024 Apprentice of the Year, Kayla Cordaro!!! Kayla has been an exemplary apprentice proving her determination, work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude every single day.
Kayla graduated from Cedar Cliff High School where she excelled in the classroom. Throughout high school, she obtained grades that gave Kayla many post-graduate opportunities. Kayla had the choice to attend college like some of her peers but instead chose a career in the construction trades. She wanted to be sure this was the right career for her, so she enrolled in our pre-apprenticeship at York Electrical Institute, her senior year. She realized this could be a great future for her, again excelling through the program. After graduating from our pre-apprenticeship program, she was accepted into IBEW York Local 229’s electrical apprenticeship. Kayla is currently in her second year as an apprentice and has a bright future in front of her. She is doing a fantastic job with her classroom and on-the-job training, where we are consistently hearing good news about her performance. We are all glad we could be a part of this and proud of the example she brings.
Special thanks to Cedar Cliff High School Mark Miller and Chad Moore, York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) Kevin Appnel and Dr. Kristin Johnson, Chicago Women In the Trades (CWIT) Lark Jackson, and YEI’s Youth Program Director Scott Brenneman. Their commitment to promoting York Electrical Institute and the building trades makes us a stronger and better program.
